Finally got around to doing some creature art. These are the first concepts I've made in the process of creating concepts for all the characters, places and creatures that appear in the first few chapters of the story. This creature is a vicious forest monster which is seen during the introduction of Jet.

Pilgrim Concepts and Sketches
Pilgrim is a guy with very little courage but a lot of optimism and common sense. He comes from a monk-like order where young students are sent out into the world to note their findings of knowledge down in journals that are added to a great library. While filling out his first journal, Pilgrim joins Jet on her journey, which he sees as a great opportunity to learn and gather knowledge for his monastery.

Jet Concepts and Sketches
So, to really get things going I figure it's fitting to show some of the sketches and concepts I've made of the main character, Jet.
Jet is a young woman who has lost faith in the outside world and lives alone in the great Reaching Forest. She always wears a white mask that she never takes off, and which serves several purposes. From a storytelling point of view, it hides her transformation from the rest of the world, allowing her to hide the fact that she no longer appears human. From a design point of view, the white mask framed by the darker bluish color of her hood allows her face to be a focal point in virtually any setting.
